Ret and Rhynie and Tryphie sang "When the leaves came drifting down." Ida and Miss Grouchy & I sang "Three old maids at Lee." I wish you could have seen our bonnets. Miss Grouchy and I trimmed them one night down to our place. Frances played to our concert and Ida to the Association. They opened theirs with "Red, White & Blue" waving their ribbons back and forth. This song Mrs. Grouchy composed. It was good, being all about the organ etc, just lovely. "Whispering Hope" was sung by Julie Burdock, Martha Keeping, Aunt Christian. Ernest John and Mrs. Grouchy joining in the chorus. It sounded very nice. Ernest John and Mrs. Grouchy acted "Tit for Tit." It wasn't bad at all. Levi Angus and Julie Pine and Mrs. Pearce acted one. I can't tell you about it as it will take me all night and take all my paper too: Emily Jane Dicks and Stella acted "Counting Eggs." It was splendid, the best of all I think. Emily Jane did her part exceedingly well. First when she began I could not tell who it was. She pronounced her words just as they ought. I loved that piece, it was rather comical. Levi Angus and Mrs. Grouchy sang "Gathering up the shells from the shore". Their voices blended together very nicely indeed. English Harbour R.C. Teacher & Effie Evans and Lil Evans and Rich Marshall
