| Scope and Content: | The collection comprises about 100 separate items, though within one item there may be two or more maps. The predominant area of coverage by the maps is Newfoundland and Labrador, the Atlantic Provinces, and the North Atlantic region. There are several topographical and political maps; many thematic maps, both published and unpublished, on topics such as wreck locations, dry-dock facilities, fishing areas and economic and population statistics; some historical maps; some cadastral maps of property ownership; and base maps of Newfoundland, Labrador, and the Atlantic Provinces. Many Maps accompanying student papers are annotated photocopies, but there are also original compilations and published items. |
