Additional Information The photographer, Dr. Fred C. Sears, was a professional agriculturalist who volunteered with the International Grenfell Mission from 1929 to 1942. His particular interest was northern gardens. He remarked about this photograph: "Compared with the great fields of such crops in Canada or the United States it may not be very impressive, but its contribution to the health of her family through its precious vitamines [sic] is a cause for great rejoicing."
