Voyages

There are two main sources of information on voyages held at the Maritime History Archive. Lloyd's List, and the various series of crew lists.

Lloyd's List is a newspaper published from 1741, which provides information on vessel movements and casualties as well as other aspects of the shipping industry. For the period 1838-1927 each year of the list is indexed by vessel name. This index provides a reference to the entry in Lloyd's List. We can search this index for references to a vessel's movement. It is preferable that the researcher can provide us with the years they wish to have searched.

The Crew Lists also provide information on voyages. Cargoes are not listed on the agreements. The crew agreements are arranged chronologically and by official number of the vessel. They are indexed by official number of the vessel. We require the name or official number of a vessel before we can make a search of the crew agreements.
