| Biography/Admin History: | S.S. "Vanguard" was built at Aberdeen, Scotland in 1872, 559 gross tons, official number 64329, registered at St. John's, Newfoundland in 1873 and owned by John Munn of Harbour Grace, Newfoundland in 1875. She was lost April 14, 1909 after her propeller and main shaft were broken by ice while engaged in the Newfoundland seal fishery off the coast of the island. No lives were lost. |
