Biography/Admin History: "Cape Roger" - Built by Ferguson Industries Ltd., Pictou, Nova Scotia in 1977, 1,255 gross tons, official number 371172, owned by the Government of Canada, Department of Fisheries and Oceans in 1985-86. Crew of the Spanish trawler "Estai" were arrested when Canada claimed they were overfishing Greenland Halibut (also known as Greenland Turbot). An international fishing dispute between Canada and Spain, known as the Turbot War of 1995, developed. The drag net recovered by the "Zandvoort" showed that the "Estai" was using a net with a mesh size smaller than was permitted by Canadian law.
