Paris City, ON 140862, 1934. A small number of Log Books started to get saved at the onset of the First World War (small compared to the almost 100% retention of the logs between 1863-1874, large compared to the almost 100% destruction of logs between 1876 and 1914) and Ertherington's inventory is a wonderful example of a later inventory. It includes compelling evidence of innovations in technology: the list is typewritten and includes a gramophone and records. Sartorial changes are visible also. Though the recorder of the inventory is clearly convinced that suits still include waistcoats, Etherington's navy blue suit does not include one. He owns a wristwatch and a "swimming costume" and is treating his hair with Brilliantine. Furthermore, the terms Khaki, pullover and overall have entered garment vocabularies.
