Biography/Admin History: The three-masted topsail schooner, "Ethel", formerly "A.M. Brundrit", official number 83505, gross tonnage 113, was built 1882 at Runcorn, England by Brundrit & co., and registered there to John Brundrit. The vessel transferred to Newfoundland in 1887 under the ownership of William Dawe of Bay Roberts. Robert K. Bishop of St. John's acquired the "Brundrit" circa 1898 and changed its name to "Ethel". Walter S. Monroe was the owner by 1910. The following year the vessel was lost at sea near Figueira, Portugal.
