FISHERIES HOUSEHOLD RESETTLEMENT DIVISION
Points to be considered by Committee regarding Regulations:
1. Suggest that where community consists of less than three house-holders all must sign a Petition for assistance to resettle.
2. Is a Clergyman eligible for assistance. If he is
(a) The owner of the dwelling he occupies
(b) Renting the dwelling he occupies
(c) Occupies a dwelling owned by the parish
3. Is a School Teacher eligible for assistance. If he is
(a) The owner of the dwelling he occupies
(b) Renting the dwelling he occupies
(c) Occupies a dwelling owned by the School Board;
if so
To whom should payment be made, Parish, School board or individual.
4. (a) If either of the above is renting would the owner qualify
(b) If the owner has two dwellings one occupied by his family and the other:
(i) rented
(ii) occupied rent free by a relative or friend
(iii) or unoccupied
Could he qualify for assistance on behalf of each dwelling?
If so in what amount? The Agreement between the Province
and Federal Government provides in Section 2(g) that the
number of dwellings and the number of householders shall be
equal.
5. Will householders of a community already approved under the
previous centralization program administered by the Department
of Welfare qualify:
(a) If all householders move after April 1st, 1965.
(b) If some move after April 1st, 1965.
AND IF
those who move after April 1st, 1965 are eligible and
have received assistance under the previous program
will that amount of $600.00 be considered as part
payment under the new scheme
AND
considered by the Federal Authorities as provincial share of the new scheme.
IF SO
will the Department of Welfare have to transfer that amount to the Department of Fisheries in order for us to secure a refund from the Federal Government.
(This might mean a paper entry only but must be clarified).
6. Section 9(c) and 10(c) of proposed regulations should we not include cost of transportation of fishing gear, boats, livestock, stock in trade of a shorekeeper etc.
